Casa Boca

A house by the sea in Boca Sami, Curaçao. Three steps from the terrace into the Caribbean. Nothing between you and the water.

01 Β· The house

A house, kept simple.
A sea, kept close.

Casa Boca is your home away from home in Curaçao — a three-bedroom house in the authentic fishing village of Boca Sami, with private stairs leading directly into the Caribbean Sea.

The open-concept living area flows seamlessly into the outdoor terrace, ensuring you're always connected to the water. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, room for six.

The plan

Open, and open to the sea.

Cook with the doors thrown open. Eat on the terrace at sunset. Step three paces to the water. The house is built around the indoor-outdoor life β€” and the view that comes with it.

Three king bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a terrace that reads more like a room than an add-on.

&

You never know what passes by.

The water at the door of Casa Boca is alive. Some mornings, dolphins pass on the run toward Bullenbaai. Most afternoons, a sea turtle drifts up for a breath. Some weeks, a manta ray glides through. And always — every reef fish Curaçao has, in the first ten metres of clear water below the terrace.

Find a shell, a sea heart, a piece of weathered coral on your walk back from the snorkel? Leave it in the found-treasure cabinet on the terrace. Write what you saw, where, and when in the guest tips book. The next people who stay here will read it.

The magic of Boca Sami

Sunrises, sunsets, and the sea between.

  • Enjoy breathtaking sunrises and sunsets directly from your private terrace.
  • Take a dip in the azure sea and swim among the sea turtles.
  • With a little luck, dolphins might pass by β€” your best chance to spot these special residents is in the early morning or late afternoon.

02 Β· Inside

Open plan. Open doors.

The kitchen, dining and living space share one long room. Doors open onto the terrace and stay open. In practice, the room is however big the weather says it is β€” which is always.

The house is built for the slow rhythm of the day.

03 Β· The rooms

Three bedrooms. All king.

All three bedrooms are equipped with king-size box spring beds for optimal sleeping comfort, a modern split-unit air conditioner. The Master opens through French doors to the terrace and the sea. The other two share a bathroom.

04 Β· The village

Boca Sami. Not the strip.

Casa Boca sits on the cliff at the end of Boca Sint Michiel β€” a working fishing village on the leeward coast, fifteen minutes from the airport and twenty from Willemstad. Wooden boats out at dawn.

You can walk to Slangenbaai and snorkel back to Casa Boca by drifting with the current β€” I always do this. Behind the village, the salt pans hold flamingos most mornings. Lunch is at the Niffo Huts or Diverse Sauzen β€” feet in the sand, fresh fish, cold beer. Groceries and Blue Bay Resort are five minutes by car.

06 Β· Answers

Questions, honestly.

Most of what people ask before they book β€” grouped by topic. If something isn't here, write to us. We answer every email personally.

01

Booking and payment.

How do I book?

Fill in the form just above, or email us directly at info@casabocacuracao.com. We answer within 24 hours with availability and payment details.

What is the minimum stay?

Five nights, year-round. Shorter stays on request.

When is payment due?

50% deposit at booking to confirm the dates. Balance due 35 days before arrival. Bank transfer or credit card, no surcharge either way.

What is the cancellation policy?

More than 35 days before arrival β€” full refund of your deposit.

35 days or less β€” the deposit is retained in full.

We strongly recommend travel insurance. Life happens; we'd rather it not cost you.

Is there a security deposit?

Yes β€” $250, held against damage or missing items and refunded within seven days of check-out.

02

The house.

How many people can stay?

Six, comfortably. Three bedrooms, each with a king bed. Two bathrooms. Two people in each room β€” no fold-outs, no extra guests.

Is there air conditioning?

Yes, in every bedroom. Fans are available for every room on request.

Is the tap water safe to drink?

Yes. Curaçao's water is desalinated and among the cleanest in the Caribbean. You do not need to buy bottled water.

Is the house good for kids?

Yes, with a note: the terrace opens directly onto the sea. There is a railing, but small children should be supervised. Older kids love it β€” snorkeling from the stairs, jumping in from the terrace, watching fish at night.

Is there WiFi?

Yes, fibre across the house. Fast enough to work from, if you must. We hope you won't.

Can we cook?

The kitchen is fully set up β€” gas hob, oven, coffee machine, real knives, proper pans. Most guests cook a few nights and eat out the others. There is a good supermarket 5 minutes away.

03

The village.

Do we need a car?

Yes. Boca Sami is 20 minutes from Willemstad, and you will want to move around the island. Rental cars are cheap in Curaçao — around $40 a day. We can arrange one on request.

Is Boca Sami safe?

Yes. Curaçao is widely considered one of the safest islands in the Caribbean, and Boca Sami itself is a peaceful, tight-knit fishing village where neighbours know each other. We have never had a problem, and neither have our neighbours.

One thing worth knowing: petty theft from parked cars is the most common issue on the island. When you park at public beaches or trailheads, leave nothing visible. At the beach, don't leave your phone, wallet, or car keys on your towel while you snorkel β€” a small dry bag works well, or take turns watching your things.

Where do people eat locally?

The village has a few snèks — small local kitchens serving fish stew, funchi, iguana on Sundays. Rif Fort and Pietermaai are 20 minutes away for anything more formal. We leave a printed list of favourites in the house.

Can we snorkel from the house?

Yes β€” straight from the stairs. The water is clear, the reef is close, the fish are used to visitors. Bring your own mask and fins if you have preferences; we keep a small set at the house.

What is the best time of year?

Any time. Curaçao sits below the hurricane belt — the weather is steady year-round, high 20s, breezy, low humidity.

Terms & conditions
01

Booking and confirmation.

A booking is confirmed when the 50% deposit has cleared into our account. Until then, the dates remain available and may be released to another guest without notice.

The balance is due 35 days before arrival. Failure to pay the balance on time may result in the booking being cancelled and the deposit retained.

02

Cancellation and refunds.

Cancellations are handled based on how far in advance they are received:

  • More than 35 days before arrival β€” deposit refunded in full
  • 35 days or less β€” the deposit is retained in full

We strongly recommend travel insurance.

03

Utilities and final billing.

Water and electricity are not included in the nightly rate. Meters are read on arrival and on departure. The difference is settled at check-out, at the current published utility rate.

The 7% government tax on the nightly rate is added to the final invoice.

04

Guests and occupancy.

The house sleeps six β€” three bedrooms, each with a king bed, two guests per room. Additional guests are not permitted without prior written agreement.

Day visitors are welcome. Parties, events, and short-term commercial use of the property are not.

05

Check-in and check-out.

Check-in is from 4pm. Check-out is by 11am. Earlier or later times are usually possible depending on the surrounding bookings β€” please ask.

You will be met at the house on arrival, shown around, and given the keys. On departure, meters are read together and the utility balance settled.

06

Damage and the house itself.

Casa Boca is a family home. It has hosted our family for 45 years and shows a real, lived-in warmth. Small marks of use are expected and not charged for.

Damage beyond normal wear β€” broken furniture, missing items, deep stains β€” is settled at cost. A refundable security deposit of $250 is held against damage or missing items and returned within seven days of check-out.

07

The sea, and your safety.

The terrace opens directly onto the Caribbean. Guests use the stairs, the water, and the surrounding cliffs at their own risk.

Children should be supervised near the water at all times.

08

Force majeure and the unexpected.

In the event of circumstances beyond our control β€” natural disaster, government restrictions, structural damage to the property β€” we reserve the right to cancel a booking and refund payments made.

Our liability in such cases is limited to the amount paid. For anything not covered here, Curaçao law applies.
